We are now off to the racing capital of the world at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course and rounds 7/8/9 of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship. Rookie Road To Indy Presented by Cooper Tires driver Michael Myers and Legacy Autosport are teaming up to bring the #24 Myers / Legacy Machine out to race with Heavy Right Foot Coffee Company, Myers Garage, Rusted Silo Southern BBQ and Brewhouse, Metalloid Corporation, J.R.’s Beverage Mart, Steve’s Auto Fab and TAFS Attorneys by their sides as sponsors.

“Being a new driver to the USF2000 series is a welcoming and empowering feeling,” said Myers. “Coming from off-road ATV racing, I have never experienced this level of teamwork and comradery before as that sport is very individualized between the rider and mechanic. Having Legacy Autosport to work with is an amazing experience and provides me the confidence that I will always have a solid team to trust and work with.

“The USF2000 cars are different from what I am used to driving, but I feel as if the previous steps I took in my transition to the road-side of motorsports have properly prepared me for the Road to Indy series. As I have had no karting experience, my background is significantly different from most in this sport. As off-road racing is a very brutal yet intimate sport between the driver and the machine, the feeling I have in the race car is unique. I believe this will greatly benefit me in the long run as I develop as a driver.

“I competed in the Road to Indy ESeries and one of the races was at IMS. It was a good time while it lasted. I spend a lot of time on my simulator doing online races and preparing for the upcoming event. Even if I am not confirmed for an event, I spend hours preparing for that track for the “just in case” scenario. My family is not full of racers, but we do have connections to those who were/are heavily involved in motorsports. With this, I am often working on connections and partnerships to help fund my racing career yet provide mutually beneficial returns for partners.

“I am very excited about my upcoming race at IMS as I have been in the background helping and expanding my knowledge with Legacy Autosport for some time now. This is my hometown track and it is a very iconic place for my debut event in the Road to Indy series. I am more than ready to get my car on track!”

Louis Meyer (Owner of Legacy Autosport) said: “We are excited to have Michael run the Indy road course with us. He tested with us at the Mid-Ohio open test and we were very impressed with how quickly he adapted to the USF2000 car. His feedback was spot on and we look forward to getting him to the front of the field. We are working beside Michael to put a program together to finish the season and gear up for next year.”

A few of Myers highlights include:

• 2019 Team USA Scholarship finalist
• 2019 Vice-champion in the Lucas Oil Championship Series
• 2019 Champion of the Lucas Oil Winter Series

With Myers only practice in a USF2000 car being at Mid-Ohio and his first race being the 2.439-mile, 14-turn grand prix circuit it will be exciting to watch as Myers will bring all he’s got to impress Legacy Autosport once again as we approach rounds 7/8/9 at Indianapolis on September 3rd – 4th.
